A Comparison of Digital Cameras With Megazoom

A digital camera that is endowed with a great zoom lens can be a great asset. Manufacturers now offer a range of cameras that come with what they call a megazoom - something that goes in optically to zoom in at least 10x. Not everyone really likes a megazoom. Serious amateurs with DSLR's for instance, think that a zoom that powerful is for lazy people. When they really need to go in close on the subject, they choose to walk closer. That's not really the way casual photographers tend to feel. When They are stuck at the back of an auditorium, and their child is up on the stage, there is pretty much nothing they appreciate as much as a camera with a powerful zoom. In this comparison of digital cameras, let us look at models that give you an option in spectacular zooming.

Starting with the Fuji FinePix F80EXR, what you find in this camera that costs about 0, is a six megapixel sensor, a 27mm wide-angle lens, average lowlight shooting and an aggressive 10x zoom. The 3 inch LCD on the back is remarkably bright and visible even in sunlight, you get full resolution in burst mode with five shots in store, and you can shoot in low light conditions up to ISO 1600. Add to this the fact that this is a remarkably tiny camera, and you have a remarkably good bargain.

Up next on our comparison of digital cameras with super zooms comes the Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS5. This camera comes in at slightly less than 0. The great thing about this super zoom camera is its remarkable lens - it starts at a 25mm and goes all the way to 12x zoom. The fact that it has a 14 megapixel sensor, that it has a great 2.7 inch LCD and that it has been great image stabilization, works in its favor. The only problem is that it has disappointing low light shooting. Any pictures you take in low light on this camera are likely to turn out grainy.

At about cheaper, comes the Canon PowerShot SX130 IS. This isn't really compact "compact camera". Still, it has a generous 14 megapixel sensor, HD shooting at720p, and what's more, 14x zoom. For those who can't quite afford an SLR, this camera should be great, because it provides manual shooting modes in addition to semi- manual and fully automatic. It doesn't come with rechargeable batteries like the other two models though - you need to carry a supply of AA batteries, good for 130 shots. This camera comes with a very nice 28mm wide-angle lens as well.

And finally, at the top of our list in our comparison of digital cameras with great zoom comes the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX5V. It's the most expensive of all the cameras in this round up - at 0. For the money, you get GPS, superfast performance, spectacular lowlight pictures, a 10 megapixel sensor, the widest wideangle lens of any camera in this round up at 25mm, and a very serviceable 10x zoom. For the best all round performance, the Sony takes the crown.

The Best Price On Digital Cameras Anywhere

Does anyone really believe that the best priced digital camera, is the best value for their money? Or are people just a little suspicious when the price seems to be too good to be true? It doesn't have to be that way. Retailers have known for years, that consumers generally associate higher prices with quality, and lower prices with defective merchandise. They then price their products accordingly. While these pricing games do exist, there's good reason for the informed consumer that knows how the game is played, to use that knowledge to their advantage.

Smart consumers know, that getting the best price on digital cameras, really means getting the best price on the RIGHT digital camera. In other words, you need to know what your getting for your money. Price is never the only attribute to consider. Some knowledge of the product is essential. In the case of digital cameras, there is a ton characteristics you could evaluate. Fortunately, looking at all characteristics is not necessary.

Panasonic Lumix Dmc Zs3

This is where things get a bit tricky though, as the factors worth considering are not always the ones camera manufacturers and salespeople tell you about. In digital photography, image sensor size, lens quality, battery consumption, and flash recharge rate, should all be considered. While image sensor size is a strict technical specification, the other factors are not. They will require some research on the consumers part. Read online, talk to a few salespeople, and ask friends and family. Remember to consider though, that salespeople have ulterior motives, and friends and family are unlikely to admit when they have made a bad purchase. Nobody likes to admit when they've been scammed out of their money.

Panasonic Lumix Dmc Zs3

10.1 megapixel image sensor Leica Lens with 25-400mm Optical Zoom - this is an amazing range, especially with the extremely high image quality ratings enjoyed by both cameras ISO of 80-1600 (expandable to 6400 with high sensitivity) or auto Fantastic image quality iA (Intelligent Auto) Mode - includes Face Detection, Subject Detection, AF (auto focus) Tracking, Scene Detection (Intelligent Scene Selector), Light Detection (Intelligent Exposure and Auto Backlight Compensation)
One note about the ISO range of compact digital cameras - most compacts are notorious for the amount of digital noise at higher ISO settings, and the Panasonic line of compact digital cameras is no different. However, Panasonic is making advances in this area of technology so that the noise level is less than other cameras of similar price and features.
